It needs to be heavy because it pulls the hose as it walks. The box says it can pull up to 200 feet of hose, but they are a little off with that number. Mine is pulling 400 feet of hose with no trouble. I live on the corner of a cul-de-sac, and I start it at the edge of my front lawn, and it travels from there over a brick driveway, through an open gate, down the side, and the whole backyard.
