Altoona boys win Indiana invite

INDIANA — Cohen Crawford had the game winner on an assist from Ian Long to lead Altoona past Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, 1-0, to capture the championship of the Indiana Invitational Tournament in high school boys soccer action on Saturday.

Luke Mitchell had four saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.

Dragons top Lions

ROARING SPRING — Central opened the season by doubling up Chestnut Ridge, 4-2, on Saturday.

Alexander Eicher led the way with two goals for the Scarlet Dragons while Logan Hummel tallied two assists.

Avery Campbell got the Dragons on the board first with a header off a corner kick from Jacob Heuston.

Cameron Claycomb notched both goals for the Lions with the second coming off a free kick assist from Elias Ritchey.

NBC triumphs

WARFORDSBURG — Freshman Kitt Reininger scored two goals and fellow freshman Mylee Mitchell had a goal and an assist in their first varsity soccer games as Northern Bedford topped Southern Fulton, 4-1, in girls soccer Saturday.

Mariah Hall also had a goal and an assist for the Lady Panthers. Mia Hiller scored the lone goal for Southern Fulton.

Cumberland Valley broke open a close game with three late goals, two from Catherine Tiday, to defeat Altoona in girls action at Mansion Park on Saturday.

Hailey Kravetz tallied her second goal of the season for Altoona in the losing effort.
