Blake Lively misses out on famous Paul Hollywood handshake in 'hilarious' alcohol advert

Blake Lively appeared alongside the Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood in a new promotional video for her alcohol brand Betty Booze - and seemingly missed out on the baker's famous handshake

Blake Lively starred alongside Paul Hollywood in a newly-released promotional campaign for her alcohol brand Betty Booze, with her almost getting a handshake from him.

The actor, 36, launched the brand earlier this year, following the release of her sparkling drinks brand Betty Buzz. She has been promoted both brands on social media in recent weeks, including with a photoshoot for the latter recently.

She teamed up with celebrity baker Paul, 57 - who is best known as a judge on the Great British Bake Off (GBBO) - for a new video promoting Betty Booze. It was released on social media earlier this week, coinciding with her birthday.

It opens with Blake surprising Paul at a home, bringing some of the brand's drinks to him. She says: "Here we go, Betty Booze, which I just launched using all of my own recipes and I would love your professional opinion, if you don't mind."

Paul suggests that she doesn't drink alcohol though, to which Blake responds: "Oh I don't drink alcohol. I eat it. Bourbon and whipped cream, sherry vinaigrette. [You're] really hard pressed to find anything I cook without alcohol."

After sampling a can of Betty Booze's 'Sparkling Bourbon with Apple Ginger Sour Cherry,' Paul gives his verdict. He tells Blake: "I really like it. It is absolutely beautiful. I think really good. The tang. The balance with the ginger. Spot on."

Following his compliments over it, Paul leans forward with an outstretched hand, in an apparent reference to his coveted handshake. It's occasionally awarded to GBBO contestants who have particularly impressed the judge.

Angelic music is heard in the video as Blake appears thrilled over the prospect of receiving a handshake from Paul herself. He however reaches past here to simply get another drink, saying: "That's so easy to grab and go."

His appearance in the video concludes as he seemingly begins to usher her out of the home. Blake is subsequently heard telling viewers in a voiceover in the campaign: "Try new Betty Booze or I'll come over and make you try them."

Blake shared the video on Friday alongside a caption that read: "Finally made it in Hollywood." She tagged her brand Betty Booze and Paul in the post, as well as celebrating that it was her birthday elsewhere in the caption. The post has amassed more than a million likes since it was uploaded. It was liked by a host of celebrities including Blake's husband Ryan Reynolds, 46, and his pal Hugh Jackman, 54. They both also commented on the post.

Ryan responded to the recent post with a series of heart-eyed emojis. Whilst his Deadpool 3 co-star Hugh teased in the comments section this week: "The (non)handshake is everything. Happy birthday to my friend Miss @bettybooze."

Others found that scene amusing too, with one fan reacting: "The way I gasped when he stuck his hand out - and then I cackled." Another said: "So funny, the elusive handshake." Whilst a third fan wrote: "The none handshake is hilarious."

The ad campaign comes after Ryan and Blake surprised fans earlier this year when they both visited the GBBO set. Ryan shared a photo of himself with Paul and fellow judge Prue Leith, whilst Blake was seen in a photo alongside just Paul.
